The Color Marketing Group has announced four key international colours for 2018+, one each for North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Europe. The hues range from subtle and natural to rich and deep.
North America: Evolve
Balanced, subtle, natural, and an emerging direction for grey, Evolve, is the embodiment of a warm neutral… Its visual organic appearance conjures a more mindful approach to living.
Its important role moves beyond its simple roots to that of influencer for other colours. Imbuing a contemplative mood in the forecast palette, the continuing importance of grey will be seen across the spectrum. Blues are muted, greens are dusted, and violet is quieted, offering a seamless coordination of colours.
Evolve will enhance both interior and exterior home, adding balance to spaces as varied as kitchen and bedroom. It also adds a stable, trusting colour statement to commercial spaces. Textiles, and hard and soft surfaces will carry the hue forward as both primary and background colour. When effects such as high-gloss or metallics are added, it attains a technological edge, adding warmth to our handheld devices, cars and bikes, and small appliances.
With its myriad applications, it is futuristic, timeless, and most importantly, it creates an environment of colour that allows for the addition of other hues while being sure enough to stand on its own.
The need to breathe, to recharge, and even escape, from an exhausting daily routine, brings Vapor to the forefront of colour direction.
There is a demand for re-energising our bodies, our brains, and ourselves, and this metallic-enhanced pale blue offers an aesthetic of tranquillity. The need for personalized spaces is of growing importance, and this pale blue offers a moment to enjoy the beauty of quietness.
Nature inspires us with calm, soft, natural blue shades. Blue is honest and trusting and the metallic finish of the colour is the reflection of our surroundings and the need for peace. With the ability to appear wispy, soft, and discrete, Vapor lives up to its name, with its glistening finish. However, it can be just as ethereal as a solid colour, suggesting its original qualities with a different level of sheen, be it matte or gloss.
From home appliances to custom surfaces, wall emulsions to home décor, it adds its unique presence of calm and offers a respite from our busy lives.
Latin America: Re-Value
Truly gender neutral and a colour for the ages, Re-Value suggests a rich, deep green that creates a common ground for exploration among people and the planet that we inhabit.
Considered neither masculine nor feminine, it is a green of strength, as well as sensitivity, one that also offers a respite from the urban landscape, while engaging the power of nature. Instead of separating the qualities, though, they are combined in a colour that simultaneously speaks to its strengths.
With a new way of looking at dark green, it is fresh and vibrant. With a strong blue influence, it will become an evolutionary influencer on other colours in various values of light and dark. Turquoise, spring green and garden green will benefit from the qualities of Re-Value.
As an unbiased colour, it will grace fashion runways, home, automobiles, and graphic design. It is a colour of natural energy and commands attention accenting interior, as well as exterior spaces. Its depth adds power to graphics, the streamlined aesthetics of transportation, and our awareness of nature’s beauty.
From the matte of a velvet settee to a glistening automotive lacquer, Re-Value brings forth a hue and depth of appeal.
It is a green with many options and many opportunities.
Asia Pacific: Enjoy Life
An aptly named hue, Enjoy Life is a yellow imbued with its own life-force.
Soft and quiet, with the slightest hint of red, Enjoy Life suggests the first light of the morning sun. Its fresh nature reminds us to take a moment in the light, enjoy a repast, and bask in the warmth. It is creamy and organic, suggesting luscious foods that sustain us and bring us joy.
With an initial appearance of near-white, Enjoy Life teases and intrigues the eye with its true colour. From stationery to cookware, kitchen design to home furnishings, it is a garden-fresh approach to colour that is as successful as a textile as it is a lacquered teakettle. Rooms will glow with its subtle colour, and in fashion, it is a colour that complements many complexions.
Live with a colour that embraces the promise to Enjoy Life.
