3 reasons corner drawer cabinets may be your perfect solution

Kitchen corner cabinets have long proven a design dilemma for many homeowners. Corner drawer cabinets may be your perfect solution to conquering that space, especially if you’re not a fan of the Lazy Susan or corner pull-out.

Most pie cut corner cabinets come with either one shelf or with some form of Lazy Susan with two or three rotating shelves. While we’re not fans of the former, there are some great Lazy Susan options available. And the sophistication of pull-outs continuously improves.

With drawer storage, however, you typically get at least double the storage capacity of a non-moving shelf. In a corner installation, depending on your drawer configuration, you may find you get more than triple the storage.

Though corner drawer cabinets can efficiently use your space, the drawers don’t fill the entire cabinet cavity. Instead, the interior of the cabinet is divided into three sections. The two sides become inaccessible void areas.

The inaccessibility is a good thing. Your items won’t fall out of the drawers and into the void areas. Nor will you need to worry about dust or crumbs gathering in those areas.

However, if you’re expecting the drawers to fill more of the cabinet, know that geometry and drawer slides don’t work that way.

Similar to pull-outs, full-extension corner drawer cabinets bring items out of the cabinet interior and into reach. This ergonomic improvement greatly reduces the amount of stretching and bending you may need to do to access the contents of your drawers.

Improved accessibility is great for everyone, but it’s especially important when designing a functional, forever livable home.

The extension out of the cabinet also increases visibility. This matters for two reasons.

First, your kitchen’s lighting is better outside the cabinet than inside. And second, it’s easier to find what you’re looking for when you get a complete overview of the contents.

Kitchen design solutions aren’t one size fits all. We all use our spaces differently. Installing corner drawer cabinets allows for greater customisation than most other pie cut corner solutions.

Unlike static shelves or rotating solutions, which typically offer two levels, drawers most often come in three or four levels. Think about what you want to store in the cabinet before making final decisions.

If you need the space for cooking implements and spices, a couple of shallow drawers plus two deeper drawers is ideal. For cookware, pantry staples, or food storage containers, three may be optimal.

The second layer of custom design comes in choosing your interior fittings. Separating the drawer into unique sections keeps your items organised and easy to reach at all times.

Compared to more traditional corner cabinet solutions, full-extension cabinet drawers are easy to access and keep clean―without the hassle of feeling like you’re crawling into the cupboard.

In many cases, a damp cloth is all you’ll need. The wand of your vacuum is a great alternative.
